Functional Capacity Evaluations
Functional capacity testing provides objective information to determine an individual's work abilities as well as the status of their occupational disability.

Individual assessments last approximately three to four hours and are conducted by a physical therapist. Testing parameters include strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, cardiovascular condition and body mechanics—all in relation to job demands.

Results are then summarized with recommendations pertaining to:

  • Ability to perform on the job
  • Return to work status
  • Patient's level of functionality

Functional Capacity Evaluations are offered at the Mt. Juliet location.

Work Conditioning
Work conditioning refers to intensive therapy offered two to eight hours a day for three to five days per week. It is designed for individuals injured on the job whose goal is to return functionality and return to work in a full duty capacity. Although specific treatment varies from patient to patient, the work conditioning process usually includes a combination of the following:

  • consistent scheduling in a structured environment
  • flexibility training
  • core stabilization
  • injury specific exercise
  • functional strengthening
  • cardiovascular conditioning
  • work simulation activities
  • re-injury prevention education

The process may also involve an ergonomic job site analysis.

Work conditioning is offered by licensed professionals, under physician supervision at all of our locations.

Ergonomic Job Site Analysis

This is a tool that assists the employer to create a safe and productive workplace for all employees, leading to:

  • Functional Job Descriptions which can be used to design post-offer / pre-work screens.
  • Identification of potential ergonomic stressors in order to identify possible solutions.

Solutions may include job rotation design, modified duty, education, fitness, and conditioning programs, and reasonable accommodations for disabled employees.

Job site visits can be scheduled with our physicians and physical therapists.

Post-Offer Screens

This is a tool that is used after the job offer and is developed in conjunction with the employer to objectively assess specific job related activities and the employee’s ability to perform the job offered.
