Tennessee Sports Medicine employs the Ergoscience,
Inc. philosophy in delivering research-based, accurate assessment tools
in its rehabilitation and prevention of work-related injuries.
Functional Capacity Evaluations
Functional capacity testing provides objective information to determine
an individual's work abilities as well as the status of their occupational
disability.
Individual assessments last approximately three to four hours and are
conducted by a physical therapist. Testing parameters include strength,
flexibility, balance, coordination, cardiovascular condition and body
mechanicsall in relation to job demands.
Results are then summarized with recommendations pertaining to:

Work Conditioning
Work conditioning refers to intensive therapy offered two to eight hours
a day for three to five days per week. It is designed for individuals
injured on the job whose goal is to return functionality and return
to work in a full duty capacity. Although specific treatment varies
from patient to patient, the work conditioning process usually includes
a combination of the following:

consistent scheduling in a structured environment

flexibility training

core stabilization
-
injury specific exercise
-
functional strengthening
-
cardiovascular conditioning
-
work simulation activities
-
re-injury prevention education
The process may also involve an ergonomic job
site analysis.
Work conditioning is offered by licensed professionals, under physician
supervision at all of our locations.
Ergonomic Job Site Analysis
This is a tool that assists the employer to create a safe and productive
workplace for all employees, leading to:
Solutions may include job rotation design, modified duty, education,
fitness, and conditioning programs, and reasonable accommodations for
disabled employees.
Job site visits can be scheduled with our physicians and physical therapists.
Post-Offer Screens
This is a tool that is used after the job offer and is developed in
conjunction with the employer to objectively assess specific job related
activities and the employees ability to perform the job offered.
