Sports Medicine

The physicians and staff of Tennessee Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics have served area high schools since 1994. Team physicians join the schools’ Certified Athletic Trainers, who are present for practices and game events, and for sideline coverage. Physical therapists and Certified Athletic Trainers work closely with the physicians to return athletes to competition as quickly and safely as possible. Students enrolled in the CAAHEP approved
Cumberland University Athletic Training Education Program enjoy educational opportunities in clinical care, surgery observation, and rehabilitation.

“There is not one parent that would drop their child off at a local community pool if there were not a certified lifeguard on duty. That same standard of care should be available at every sports facility in this country. If we can prevent just one fatality or injury, it will be worth the effort.”
—Lawrence J. Lemak, Founder of NCSS
