Tennessee Sports Medicine
Celebrates Grand Opening
December 16, 2005, Mt. Juliet
Hundreds of well-wishers
turned out to welcome Tennessee Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics and
their new 55,000 square foot medical center to the community yesterday.
In addition to full a service orthopaedic care and pain management center,
the facility boasts an MRI center, physical therapy, and the TSM Institute,
a nearly 1,800 square foot conference center, capable of hosting community
banquets and meetings. Future plans for the building include an urgent
care center, outpatient surgery center, and the new home of West Wilson
Family Practice, while much of the ground floor is already occupied by
River Radiology.
The ribbon cutting ceremony included Mt.
Juliet mayor Linda Elam, Lebanon mayor Don Fox, State Senator Mae Beavers,
Wilson County Sheriff Terry Ashe, and former U.S. Congressman Bob Clement.
TSM Institute Advisory Council Co-Chairs, Baseball Hall-of-Famer Gaylord
Perry and Football Hall-of-Famer Bobby Bell were on hand with former TSU
and Dallas Cowboys star Ed Too-Tall Jones to sign autographs
and visit with patrons. The Sports Zone, featuring George Plaster, from
104.5 FM The Zone broadcasted live from the event and featured interviews
with Perry, Bell, Jones, and Gregory White, MD. NASCAR Craftsman Truck
Series driver Chase Montgomery stopped by with his Bobby Hamilton Racing
truck, as well.
During the dedication ceremony, Dr. White
and partner Charles Kaelin, MD, offered an emotional thanks to their many
friends and supporters, while welcoming visitors and patients to their
new home. They announced the naming of their four patient concourses, honoring
Perry and Bell, along with music legend and Mt. Juliet native Charlie Daniels,
who was there, and close friend, author Danielle Steele. Kaelin and White
also recognized their partners, fellow orthopaedic surgeon David West,
DO, and pain management specialists Steve Urban, MD and Jeffrey York, MD
and honored long time friend JoAnn Chambers as Employee of the Year. The
TSM Foundation awarded its first scholarship to Ryan King, part time employee
and son of employee Tammy King Hopper. The fifty-plus employees welcomed
visitors by offering tours, parking shuttles, and other behind-the-scenes
activities. Legendary singer Bonnie Bramlett provided entertainment into
the evening, while visitors enjoyed catered refreshments.
